You might be waiting for nothing. Sunday afternoon about 330pm decided to check-out this place famous for their chicken. We ordered simple chicken with 2sides. Was told to pay when we got our food. Meantime, we waited @ dining table . We watched people order and receive their orders and walk out with packages. We assumed they had ordered ahead of time or are doordash pick -up orders. I watched the employees prepare and fill kool-aid dispenser , staff cleaning empty dining tables etc. while we sat waiting at the table . No one bothered to check on us or give us updates. Well, 30+minutes later we still didn't get any updates or acknowledged. There was one gentleman who was waiting , too, and I noticed he raised his hand as to ask ' what's the hold up?'... soon after, got his food order and left. I guess we have to be vocal and loud to be served and seen to get service. We chose not to do that. They should have clearly noticed our food did not arrive and been waiting far too long at the table since we were the only ones there. We WALKED-OUT.... after waiting 40minutes! That's the worse customer service experience ever! I love my soul food and food in general. It's a shame that your staff did so poorly to represent what you supposedly stand for as an long-standing establishment. HUGE disappointment. On a positive note: Only thing we got from your restaurant is pay -when-your-order-is-ready! Our order never was ready so we didn't have to pay or be bothered to get a refund and /or forced to stay waiting.

Come with your appetite but also your patience. We found this place randomly on yelp and decided to try it on Father's Day today. We were in the area and tried to call in an order ahead of time but kept getting put on hold so we decided to just to walk in and place our order. We ordered four different plates, one catfish dinner with an extra side of catfish with double macaroni and cheese, one fried chicken meal with potato salad and dressing, smothered turkey wings meal with yams and dressing. We also had the barbecue ribs with rice and gravy and dressing. The food itself was fantastic, some of the items were not as great as the others, like the rice was a little mushy and the fried chicken was a little over cooked however our kids loved the catfish nuggets and I thoroughly enjoyed the turkey wings. The dressing was a little loose. I was looking forward to some southern dessert but they were out of peach cobbler. I would also suggest they use Styrofoam plates instead of paper boxes because the food is so heavy and can seep through the paper boxes that they give. The only problem is that the wait is so long. When we went in we were quoted 20 to 30 minutes for our food so we drove around Vallejo a little bit and then after about 30 minutes came back. I would then wait another 30 minutes to get our food. I then realized that our food was literally sitting on the counter when I went up to go check on it and I was told that the money till was being counted out and that is why the woman could not check me out. I asked for hot sauce and got three small packets of hot sauce for four large dinners. That was a little weird. Also I got one item of cornbread and was questioned when I asked for the other three of how many dinners I had ordered. I guess people try to take advantage of their cornbread? The food itself is great, we will probably be back but if you come here just come also with a side of patience because you're going to need it. The lines are long, it doesn't seem like they have a lot of staff but the food is good once you get it. It was still hot by the time we got home to Martinez too. You could tell this was a hard working group of people but I wish I didn't have to wait so long. Oh it's cash only!

The service was very bad, not only did we have to wait 2 hour's the server's weren't listening to us. I wasn't really a big fan of the chicken. It was too hard and just didn't taste good. I did really enjoy the Mac & cheese. I definitely recommend you try it, well that's all I gotta say goodbye everyone.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Excellent food and great, friendly service. People have raved to me about this place for decades. Oddly, I'm just now coming here to eat! Haha! But they are all right! Food is amazing! Love their fried chicken, mac & cheese, collard greens, yams, and their smothered fried pork chop. Mom-in-law loved the oxtail dish! I have yet to try their catfish, but I'm sure it's amazing. We chose indoor dining this time. Masks are required to enter the restaurant, but of course you can take them off while seated to eat. Our server was helpful and friendly. I would definitely come back here... over and over again. This is an excellent black-owned restaurant in Vallejo that's worth patronizing. Support small Vallejo businesses!
